Part 1: Creating a Blog

1. Open Blogger.com in Your Browser:
Access Blogger from any web browser on your PC or Mac.

2. Use the Blogger App (Optional):
You can also manage your blog from your smartphone or tablet. Download the free Blogger app from the Google Play Store (for Android) or the App Store (for iPhone and iPad).

2. Click "Create Your Blog''. In the center of the page, click the orange "Create Your Blog" button. This will prompt you to sign in with your Google account.

3. Sign in with Your Google Account:

To use Blogger, sign in with your Google account. If you don’t have one, you can create a free account by setting up a new Gmail. Follow these steps to log in:

  • Enter your Google email or phone number, or select your account if it’s displayed.
  • Click Next.
  • Enter your password.
  • Click Next to proceed.

4. Enter a Title for Your Blog:
Upon signing in, a pop-up window will prompt you to create your new blog. Click the text field next to "Title" at the top of the pop-up and enter your desired blog name.

If the pop-up doesn’t appear automatically, click the orange "Create New Blog" button in the center of the page

5. Enter a URL Address for Your Blog:
In the pop-up window, click the text field next to "Address" below the "Title" field and type the desired URL for your blog.

As you type, a drop-down list will display available URL options. You can click on one of these addresses to select it.

  • A white checkmark icon in a blue square next to the Address field indicates that the URL is available for your blog.
  • If you see a red square with an exclamation mark icon, it means the address is already taken, and you will need to choose a different one.

6. Enter a Display Name:
This will be your username, appearing next to all your posts. Type your chosen display name in the text field in the middle of the screen.

  • If you see a red square with an exclamation mark icon, it means your username is already taken. You'll need to choose a different username.

7. Click "Finish"  Find the "Finish" button in the lower-right corner of the window and click it. Your information will take a moment to process, and your blog will then be created.

Compose your blog post in Blogger's text editor, similar to how you would in a standard text editor like Word or Google Docs.

  • Use the toolbar at the top to customize your post's font, size, text color, and layout.
  • You can also utilize the toolbar buttons to add hyperlinks, images, videos, emojis, or special characters. These include the chain link icon for hyperlinks, the image icon for pictures, the film clapper for videos, and the smiley icon for emojis.

  • To type your post in HTML, simply click the HTML button in the top-left corner.

4. Click on "Post Settings" (Optional):
Locate the orange drop-down menu labeled "Post settings" on the right, just below the Publish button near the top-right corner.

  • Schedule: Choose to publish your post immediately or schedule it for a future date and time.
  • Permalink: Customize the URL that links directly to your post. By default, it will be based on the post title, but you can modify it as desired.
  • Location: Add a location tag to your post, which is particularly useful for travel blogs.
  • Options: Adjust various settings for your post, including whether readers can comment and how the HTML code is processed.

5. Click the "Preview" Button (Optional):
Locate the "Preview" button near the upper-right corner of the page. Clicking this will open a preview of your new post in a new tab.

If you are satisfied with how your blog post looks, you can proceed to publish it.

6. Click the "Publish" Button:
Find the orange "Publish" button near the upper-right corner. Clicking this will publish your new post on your blog.

  • If you want to save the post without publishing it, click the drop-down menu next to the "Preview" button and select "Save."
